Between The Sheets: All Kinds Of Hard (4)

For the third time in ten minutes, Tolu chuckled to himself. Did she realize that he was watching her watch him?
Amaka had been discreetly watching him while the rest of the guys were seriously thinking up ideas for the project unveiling which was to happen in a month’s time. Not that he needed the ideas, he already had it all planned out but he never failed to get a team together to brainstorm. After all, his ideas were great but they could always be improved upon.

He looked into the glass sliding door and sure enough, she still had her eyes on him almost as if she didn’t know how to look away. He knew that it was a bad idea to have included the new guys on the team but if he wanted to be honest with himself, it was just a way for him to get closer to Amaka. His attraction to the babe hadn’t even come close to dissipating despite that unbelievable night with Anita a week ago. The one time that he allowed himself to think about that night, he found himself stuck to his chair for no less than fifteen minutes.

There was something about that night. He had never seen her want so much from him. It was like she couldn’t get enough of him. If he didn’t know Anita better, he might’ve thought that she was emotionally invested but he knew her and he was sure that it was all for the thrill of the moment. ‘Mehn. What a moment that was’, he thought. So if he had all of that with Anita, what was it about Amaka that had him so confused, he wondered.

He looked at her reflection in the sliding door. She wasn’t prettier than Anita, she had a great figure but Anita was much hotter so what was it? He had to find out so that he could be done with it and move on. He definitely had no intentions of getting with her. That was not at all his style especially not when the girl in question seemed to be a tease. He thought about what happened last week Friday.

The entire team had been working late into the night on the final design for the telecoms brand. He had been so engrossed in his work that he hadn’t taken a moment to acknowledge either of them even though they had been in the boardroom together for the last two hours. All of a sudden, he felt someone tap his arm ‘Your coffee, sir. Do I pour it?’ He was irritated that his secretary had interfered with his thought ‘Come on, Nneka! You should know by now that I prefer a disposable cup to…’ He looked up to find that he was talking to Amaka. ‘Where’s Nneka?’ ‘Some client called and she had to attend to that so I brought this in.’

‘Okay. You can pour it but you should know that I prefer the disposable cups that are…’ He lost his train of thought because she bent to pour the coffee and he had a full view of her bosom. He couldn’t help but stare. She seemed to take forever to pour the coffee and when she was through; she looked at him and said, ‘Sorry. Next time, disposable cups’ before walking away. Later that night, on his bed, he couldn’t help but think about that fair, creamy skin. That was a week ago and since then, she hadn’t done anything even remotely suggestive until today when he caught her staring at him.

Tolu was almost tempted to seduce her just to see her fall flat at his feet but it was against his ethics so he resigned himself to watching her next move. ‘Let’s see how far she can go with this’, he thought before taking his attention back to his work.

Meanwhile on the opposite side of the room, Amaka was berating herself for the umpteenth time for wanting her boss. She was so engrossed in watching him that she didn’t see Cyril until he stood in front of her blocking her view of Tolu. He had an alarmed look on his face ‘You’re becoming very obvious, babe. Do you want to eat him up with your eyes?’ he whispered.

She immediately got back to her senses. ‘Seriously? God, I hope no one else saw that. I didn’t even realize that I was staring. Oh Cyril, I’m so embarrassed. I didn’t mean to. I just can’t help it when he’s… I don’t understand this anymore.’ Cyril touched her cheek and he had a look of pity in his eyes ‘It’s a crush, babe. I would’ve been happy that you finally decided to look at a guy if he wasn’t the boss. Babe, you know it can’t happen right?’ Amaka tried to hide the hurt that his words brought to her. She knew that it was impossible and she told herself a thousand times but she only wished that her heart would listen.

All these years, she couldn’t find one guy that she could connect with so she had stayed single secretly hoping and waiting for love. Now, she had fallen for a guy and who was he? The CEO of one of the biggest advertising firms, the one she could never have. ‘Congratulations, Amaka’, she thought to herself. She re-arranged her face, smiled and said ‘Let’s get back to work, Cyril. We have a lot to do’ then she turned away. She couldn’t let Cyril see that it was fast becoming more than a crush.
